2nd Mile Missions Schools
Empowerment Begins with Education
Our first Christian school opened in August of 2010, and we opened our second location in 2019. Students who attend the 2nd Mile Missions Education Center and Hope Academy have a unique opportunity to receive a faith-based education, making them the only private Christian schools in the area.
How We Serve Our Students
2nd Mile Missions currently has two schools that serve students from pre-k through grade 12. Our second location, Hope Academy, opened in the back of a small church in 2019 in response to a need in Bavaro. The tourist industry has dramatically grown there, causing a rapid population increase. However, the government has yet to build new schools to help the hundreds of local children receive an education. In the fall of 2021, Hope Academy welcomed students to a brand new building constructed just outside of Monte Verde. The current Hope Academy campus will eventually house students in preschool through sixth grade, with the dream of one day building a high school.
Our Teachers
The teachers who work at 2nd Mile Missions schools are licensed through the Department of Education in the Dominican Republic. Students receive instruction in a range of subjects, including:
- Reading
- Writing
- Science
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
- Computer Literacy
- Physical Education
- English
- Bible Classes
Our teachers and administrators work hard to provide a quality, Christian education to every student who attends our school regardless of their economic status.
Making Education Accessible For Every Child
In the Dominican Republic, it is common for schools to charge as much as $400 per student per month. As a result, the majority of families are unable to send their children to schools where they can get a quality education.
If 2nd Mile Education Center and Hope Academy didn’t exist, most local children would have no way to receive the education necessary to empower them to rise above generational poverty.
Our schools are also the only Christian schools in the area, providing a quality education to children and a way for them to know Christ.
2nd Mile Missions schools provide education to both students who can pay monthly tuition as well students who qualify for a 2nd Mile Missions child sponsorship.
Child sponsorship provides a child with the opportunity to attend school without burdening their family with tuition expenses. Attending a 2nd Mile Missions school gives students the opportunity to grow academically, socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually in a safe, Christ-centered environment.
